Leanne Seals – Cornwall’s Coach of the Year

A huge congratulations to our Football Coach, Leanne Seals who has been awarded youth football’s ‘Coach of the Year’ award at this year’s Cornwall FA Awards.

The England Football and McDonald’s Grassroots Awards recognise people who make a positive difference through the power of football. It’s their way to celebrate the fantastic individuals who put their heart and soul into the grassroots game across England – and say a huge thank you to the incredible volunteers who inspire us all.

Cornwall FA wrote, “After receiving a record-breaking number of nominations across the different categories, an awards panel was brought together to select the winners for each award. With some truly inspiring nominations submitted this year, it made the award panels decision making process difficult however after much deliberation, the award winners were selected, with Newquay AFC Youth coach, Leanne awarded Coach of the Year (Youth).

“Cornwall FA would like to congratulate all the winners on their achievements and deserved recognition. The award winners will be formally presented with their awards in the September 2022 at the Cornwall FA Grassroots Awards Ceremony.”

Newquay AFC Chairman, Martin Burnell, said, “On behalf of the Newquay AFC Youth Committee members and myself as Chairman, I would like to say a massive congratulations to Leanne for her recent and well-deserved recognition as Cornwall’s Coach of the Year (Youth). Since you were gently persuaded to become a coach at Newquay AFC Youth you have grown, developed, and have become more confident. Your enthusiasm is infectious, and this is demonstrated by your nonstop work behind the scenes whether producing sessions, planning extra training sessions for your girls, engaging with parents and children from your own team or whilst supporting Wildcats and Mini club.

He continued, “We as a club are lucky to have Leanne as a coach and on our committee and this has been echoed by everyone she has been involved with at our club. The Youth Club have got a valuable, passionate, and hardworking coach and I am personally glad she is on board. Leanne should be really pleased and proud of what she has achieved whilst at the club, how she has inspired the young Newquay players and contributed vastly to their personal development, growth and improvement on and off the field of play. Once again congratulations to Leanne on her well deserved award and I would like to thank her for all her work and support in making our club so good.”

A huge congratulations to Leanne on the well deserved award!!
